El día de ayer, varios vecinos de la zona se manifestaron frente a la municipalidad de Cóbano para pedir medidas que frenen la celebración de eventos masivos clandestinos en la zona.
La marcha fue convocada por la Asociación Cívica de Hermosa (ACH) tras meses de descontento de numerosos miembros de la comunidad ya que el volumen de la música hasta avanzadas horas de la mañana no les permite descansar. Además varias organizaciones locales como Somos Congos llevan tiempo denunciando este tipo de eventos y explican que el ruido tan extremo asusta a la vida silvestre y hace que huyan, lo que les pone en peligro de accidentes. De hecho, en los últimos meses se han relacionado varios atropellos y electrocuciones con este tipo de fiestas.
La Asociación Cívica de Hermosa lanzó también una petición de change.org en la que detallan los motivos para poner freno a las famosas “jungle parties” cuyas firmas quisieron entregar en la municipalidad. Estas firmas digitales no fueron aceptadas por la municipalidad, quien pide que las firmas sean entregadas en físico.
Rebeca Pérez, Presidenta de la ACH explicó a Santa Teresa Hoy que no están totalmente en contra de estas fiestas, pero sí defiende que deben hacerse en lugares destinados a ello, con permisos y con contención de sonido y respetando tanto a la vida silvestre como al descanso de los vecinos.
En la misma línea nos respondió Ronny Montero, intendente electo que asumirá su cargo el próximo mes de mayo. Explicó que es consciente de la problemática y que es un tema complicado que requiere de la coordinación de varios entes pero que definitivamente tiene que estar regulado y respetar la ley (que solo permite eventos hasta las 2.30am). Además, por ser Cóbano un distrito conocido internacionalmente por su belleza natural y ser parte de una Zona Azul, debe cuidar de la naturaleza y el bienestar de sus habitantes.
Santa Teresa Hoy no recibió respuesta de los organizadores de algunas de dichas fiestas.
Neighbors march to stop the “jungle parties”
Yesterday, several residents of the area demonstrated in front of the municipality of Cóbano to ask for measures to stop the celebration of massive clandestine events in the area.
The march was called by the Hermosa Civic Association (ACH) after months of discontent among numerous members of the community since the volume of music until late in the morning does not allow them to rest. Additionally, several local organizations such as Somos Congos have been denouncing these types of events for a long time and explain that the extreme noise scares wildlife and causes them to flee, which puts them at risk of accidents. In fact, in recent months several accidents and electrocutions have been linked to this type of party.
The Hermosa Civic Association also launched a change.org petition detailing the reasons for stopping the famous “jungle parties” whose signatures they wanted to deliver to the municipality. These digital signatures were not accepted by the municipality, which requests that the signatures be delivered physically.
Rebeca Pérez, President of the ACH explained to Santa Teresa Hoy that they are not totally against these festivals, but they do defend that they should be held in places designated for it, with permits and with sound containment and respecting wildlife, the environment and the rest of the neighbors.
Ronny Montero, the elected mayor who will take office next May, responded along the same lines. He explained that he is aware of the problem and that it is a complicated issue that requires the coordination of several entities but that it definitely has to be regulated and respect the law (which only allows events until 2:30am). Furthermore, since Cóbano is a district known internationally for its natural beauty and is part of a Blue Zone, it must take care of nature and the well-being of its inhabitants, he explained.
Santa Teresa Hoy did not receive a response from the organizers of some of these festivals.
