- The tool turns smartphones into payment terminals.
- The functionality can be used by micro, small, medium, and large businesses, merchants with or without a physical location, and anyone who needs to collect payments on-site.
San José, November 2025.Starting now, BAC clients can take advantage of a new mobile application that allows them to receive payments quickly and securely. The app, called HIT, is a digital tool that transforms smartphones into payment terminals — without the need for any additional devices.
This innovative solution is designed for micro, small, medium, and large businesses; merchants with or without a physical location; service providers; and anyone who needs to collect payments in person. For example, it’s especially useful for delivery services and independent professionals.
To use the tool, users must have smartphones with the Android operating system. Payments are processed using NFC (Near Field Communication) technology, which enables contactless transactions simply by bringing the card close to the mobile device.
““We are offering our clients a new payment method that is simple and secure to use, and that includes a variety of features such as digital voucher issuance, reporting dashboards, and user and role registration for added security. With this new functionality, BAC continues to position itself as an innovative bank, delivering solutions that place the client at the center of our business strategy,”", said Mayid Sauma, Vice President of Individuals, MSMEs, and Payment Methods at BAC.
How are payments processed with HIT?
To use HIT, clients must download the MiPOS app from Google Play and complete the required setup. Once configured, they can process payments by entering the amount on the screen, selecting the payment method, and holding the card near the smartphone—either on the front or back, at the top of the device.
The application allows processing of credit and debit card payments, as well as payments made through digital wallets. It also offers the option to convert purchases into Tasa Cero (zero-interest) and mini-installment plans.
Requirements to Use HIT
Individuals or businesses wishing to use this app must meet the following requirements:
- Be an affiliated BAC merchant (individual or legal entity), or complete the affiliation process before or at the time of requesting HIT.
- Have a smartphone running Android version 11 or higher.
- Have Internet access.
- Have a mobile device equipped with NFC technology.
- The device’s operating system must be original and unmodified.
- Accept the processing fees (starting at 1.95%) and the monthly fee of $10, which covers configuration costs per user.
